Past
Projects
Prior to the establishment
of ADSAA, the following projects were completed by former students of
the Azezo Demaza schools: Projects
completed by ADSAA
- Construction of
a small conference hall for the high school at a cost of about 7,000
US dollars. This project was completed in 1997, and was fully funded
by twelve alumni residing in various states of North America. Teachers
and community members in Azezo have helped complete the construction.
- A group of eight
alumni collected a total of 2,000 US dollars and have sent the money
to one of the elementary schools to help defray the costs of construction.
- Several alumni members
in the Washington DC and Baltimore area have been helping the soccer
team and other sporting activities of the school and the town for a
number of years up until 2005.
- The late Ayesanew
Kassa, an alumnus of the school, and his wife Jean Bailey of London
have been helping some of the schools in several ways since the early
nineties. Their help include coordinating and providing funds for outstanding
students, sponsoring some students who are unable to cover some school
expenses and in general helping and coordinating any help for the school
in ways that matter most. Following the passing away of her husband,
Jean has established a Trust in Ayesan name. She is doing a marvelous
job in helping one of the elementary schools in significant and crucial
ways. Jean is very dear to Azezo students all the alumni and her continuous
effort to help the schools is one of the brightest spot in the school
history.
